Does Google Summer Of Code (GSOC) get you google referral?

Does Google Summer Of Code (GSOC) get you google referral?

No, at least not anymore. Google stopped giving its referral for GSOC candidates in 2019. Before 2019, students (in 2019 only students were allowed for GSOC) used to get google referrals on successfully completing the GSOC, but since 2019 google has stopped giving its referral to Google Summer Of Code candidates.

Why did google stop giving referrals to GSOC students?

Google hasn't officially talked about the reason for ending the referral system for GSOC participants, but it seems obvious that with the growing popularity of the Google Summer of Code program and the number of participants increasing each year, it is not easy to provide the referrals to everyone and set up interviews.
